Brogue Strap 016

At esp, we love watches! As you can see, we have made quite a few leather straps for couple of the watches we love.

We've been wanting to design a watch strap which carries the brogue essence ~ a little signature that we try incorporate into most of our product design.

It should be a strap that's able to withstand time and sits nicely along with some of the awesome classics - the likes of Rollies' GMTs and Subs and Omega's Speedies.  Just like how brogue have been around for a long time, spotted on hand welted wingtips, worn by gentlemen with fine taste.

Introducing the 016 strap, this Brogue Watch Strap is designed as a single strap construction, some what in-between a Nato and a Bund. One would require to remove the push-pin in order to install the watch head itself onto this strap. Available in Hand Dyed Black, Red or keeping it Natural on Italian Veg Tan Hide. As all our items, the 016 straps too are hand crafted, from hand punched brogue essence, stitching to burnishing of edges. This strap would take watch head 40 to 45 mm measuring from end of the 2 push pins. Currently comes in 20/20 configurations with buckle, while we are exploring a 22/22 option (depending on demands).

The New Black

A special request from a close friend, for his iPhone5 Sleeve to match his in-coming Space Grey iPhone5s. Initially we resisted going with black with this sleeve as afraid the brogue essence on the pocket may not stand-out enough.
After couple of trials, eventually, we tried the surface dye technic, leaving all edges in stain Brown and along with brown stitching, the final sleeve looks pretty coherent. It is classic, elegance yet stylish. We like it so much that we decided to include this new option into our standard offerings.

Strap for Rolex GMT Master

Not many watches out there catch the heart quite as much as the Rolex GMT Master. Since its appearance in 1954, pilots, jet-setters and watch enthusiasts were smitten by it, especially with the blue/red dial version, otherwise known as the Pepsi's Dial.

Well, how about letting those colours wrap round your wrist? So, Coca-Cola lovers, please look the other way… :)

Hand-dyed over surface of finely selected Natural Veg Tan hide, red on one side while buckle’s side went on a contrasting blue instead. Edges remained in their natural tone, hand-burnished for a smooth finish. Finally, hand-stitched finish with ivory thread. This intended colours of the strap were specially chosen to compliment the red, blue and patina of the lovely 1675.

New Retail Partner ~ zingero.com

Its been awhile since we updated our blog.
We have been so busy these pass months.
Just shipped out a bulk order for a new retail partner in Austria.
An online retailer operating out of Vienna, and hopefully that would help reaching
out to more new customers in Europe.

Wallet in the Black!

Our esp Brogue Belt in black is quite a hit. And following that, we are introducing a black option for our Wallet as well. All cut, dye and sewn by hand from a single leaf of leather. The wallet is finished off with a coat of sealant which kind of left the wallet a little stiff when new, but will soften with use as it ages.

Bespoke ~ Camera Strap

A Bespoke project for a good friend, who's a big fan of our esp's crafts too.
He came to us looking for a new camera strap to go with his new found toy, the Fujifilm X20 ~ beautiful camera must say, and, specifically stated that the strap should comes in touches of Brogue essences.
Oh boy, how can't we be excited to start on this! In fact we came out with 2 different design for him. The natural veg tan version ~ a touch of classic and a hand dyed red & black for a sporty look.

Which do you like? :)

Stitching Clamp

Been searching for a while for a stitching clamp. Finally came across someone in France, a craftsman who specialise in making tools mainly for leather works.

And, have to say, this is probably one of the finest piece of stitching clamp that we have came across. Beautiful workmanship, loves how the curved hinge is done. Wholly crafted from a single piece of French wood which mainly used for wooden tools.

Initially, was thinking not to wrap the clamp mouth, as everyone here loves the grains around the tip of the mouth, but, there's just not enough friction to hold the item or it'll leaves a clamp mark if were to clamped a little too tight… Thus we were left with no choice but to wrap it, although we felt it deserve a little more than just a piece of raw hide.

New Black Brogue Belt addition

We've just did some little tweaks to our Brogue Belt design.
We extended the perforated holes thru out the whole belt and the Conway Buckle is no longer be affixed, it uses the main holes (the bigger holes) to anchor itself, thus, the buckle is moveable to lengthen or shorten the belt itself.  What it does is, one can adjust it such that belt end to sit shortly after a belt loop, thus, don't need a belt keeper to do so.
And on the buckle end, any length that's extended will eventually be hidden behind once the belt is worn.

And this time, we have introduced a new finishing to our Brogue belt series.
Hand dyed black on Natural Veg Tan Hide. Only the surface of the belt is hand-dyed on both face and back, thus leaving the edges and holes in its natural finishing. The two-tone effect gives a three dimensional attribute to it. And this special black version will be spotted with a Solid Brass Conway Buckle.

Cuff and Strobe

Here at eatsleeplay, we can't deny our affection for Brogues. Brogue essences Shoe Horn, Belt and the iPhone Sleeve, as much as we could, we'd like to theme our products around it.
These little perforated holes exude style and elegance, it gives leather items that touch of classic looks that certainly would stand the test of time.

And time, we do have a little lately before the busy period kicks-in in Feb again.
Been wanting to make some cuffs and bracelets (for vanity sake - ha), finally got around to do so this time round. And was inspired to make a strobe for the knifes too… and yes, with a touch of brogue essences too.

Strobe made with Natural Veg Tanned Hide, while the handle and
top part with English Brittle.
Finish off with Brogue essence and copper rivets.
Brogue Cuffs - made with 3 layers of 2-3oz Natural Veg Tanned Hide.
Top with Tan Dye and Hand Stitched.
