Making of the whisky cabinet

When I'm not spending quality time with my whisky, I'm an art director. I live to design and create. So I rounded up some fellow art directors and designers who had a penchant for doing beautiful things with their hands and a vigorous passion for leather, and got our little fingers working.

So eatsleeplay was born, bringing together our love for design, craftwork and leather to create little leather things we hope you'll love as much as we do.

Here's the box

What's sleek, supple and beautiful outside, and full of substance inside?

How it all started

Alcohol. The craziest things always start with alcohol.

Whisky, in particular.

You know how, sometimes, when you love something so much, you build it a house? Dogs get fancy kennels. Vintage guitars get climate-controlled cabinets. Wives get lavish house…hold appliances.

Anyway, I had an overflowing relationship with whisky — Islay Whisky, in particular — it flowed into me, and I overstocked on it (will be, soon, anyway). With all the extra bottles lying all over the place, I could barely walk in a straight line (yes, I'm sober), and I realised I had to get my life organized, damn it. So I scavenged an audio equipment thingies and cobbled together a whisky cabinet. And because it just had to be as exquisite as the whisky it contained, I couldn't help but fashion a little leather on.
